About Broward County, Florida
Broward County is located in southeast Florida. It sits between the Atlantic Ocean and Everglades National Park. It consists of property taken from the counties north and south of it. North of it is Palm Beach County. South of it is Miami-Dade County. West of it are Collier County and Hendry County.
Broward County was founded in 1915. It contains many parks, shops and restaurants. It also has many cultural attractions, theaters and museums. It is a great place to visit or live. It consists of 1,323 square miles. 1,210 square miles are land and 113 square miles are water. It currently consists of 30 municipalities. It was originally supposed to be called Everglades County. The bill establishing the county was changed to name it in honor of Florida Governor Napoleon Bonaparte Broward. He served as Florida’s Governor from 1905-1909. Some popular communities in the county include Deer Creek, Hillsboro Cove, Vizcaya, Little Harbour and Hillsboro Landings. More popular communities are Hillsboro Mile, Coconut Grove, Regency Lakes, Hillsboro Shores and Banyan Trails.
