No TRY.... DO or NOT do!

In every situation in life, we have only 2 choices: 1) to do something or 2) not to do something.

The choice is always ours to make.

The word do means to perform, to execute, to commit, to cary out, to bring about. The word do is a powerful word. The act of doing is powerful too. It takes commitment and execution, both powerful actions. Doing is self-empowering as well as inspiring to others. Doing creates positive energy.

The word try, which actually means to make an attempt, has become more of a synonym for the word maybe. For example, when we say I'll try to go we really mean Maybe I'll go. There is no commitment in try. It is a delay, a pause, a maybe. Try diminishes power because it lacks the commitment and execution of doing. While it is a form of not doing because you are not committing to whether you will do or not do, it is a weak form of not doing because it lacks both decision and responsibility. Try erodes power.

A true commitment not to do something is just as empowering as doing something. For example, deciding not to smoke anymore and then following through and not smoking is empowering and creates positive energy. It is the opposite of trying not smoke, which erodes power because there is not commitment, no responsibility, no declaration of follow through. In trying, maybe you will and maybe you won't. There is no power in that.

This site is dedicated to a friend my circle knows as Broker B. He is a man we all love and respect. He encourages us constantly and is a person we all look up to. He is very knowledgeable, helpful, gentle, sharing.... He is everything a person should aspire to be. He is a very valuable link in our circle and we cherish him greatly!

A couple of weeks ago Broker B came into my office, sat down, and told me he had cancer. He was very calm and very matter of fact as he spoke. He told me he was going to do whatever he had to do to beat the cancer. I know he will. Broker B is a doer.

After Broker B left my office I started thinking about all the people I know that are doing tough things... Broker B is fighting cancer. Handicapped people commit everyday to do things most of us take for granted. One of my co-workers is now a single mom raising her 2 1/2 year old granddaughter alone. I know people that are making big changes in their lives with divorces, new career paths, weight loss plans, quitting smoking, etc. I can think of many inspiring stories about people doing tough things. The point is that they are doing them. They are empowering themselves. They are inspiring others. They are creating positive energy.

By now you should be starting to understand. If you remove try from your vocabulary and replace it with do or not do, you create a good mantra to live by. No try... do or not do. You have the power to control your life. You make the decisions and take the appropriate actions. You are in control.

We all have forms of cancer in our lives. We have obstacles we should overcome. We allow pessimistic people to contaminate our surroundings with negativity. We have bad habits we should not do. We all have things we know we should change. My challenge to you is to make the commitment to do something about the cancer in your life. Find a way to overcome an obstacle. Cut the negative people out of your life. Stop a bad habit. Do something. Change something you know you should. Empower yourself. Inspire others. Create positive energy around you. Let your positive energy spill over and join the positive energy in the universe, increasing the wave of positive energy surrounding us all.

Those who know me know that I love affirmations, encouragement, and all things positive. I made these wristbands to remind us of the true power of doing. If everyone around you was a positive, empowered, committed doer, there would be a lot of positive energy around you all the time. How great would that be?

Whenever you look at your wristband, please say a prayer or have a moment of positive thought for Broker B, then decide to do something, even if all you do is wear the band and send prayers and good thoughts Broker B's way. Please help us band together to send him as may prayers and positive thoughts as possible. Put your positive energy together with ours, so Broker B has a lot of positive energy to call on.

Thank you!
